The Roxy Theatre Group (RTG) sponsored a team for the walk to end Lupus on October 28, 2014,
hosted by the Lupus Foundation of America, Florida Chapter at Parrot Jungle Island.

ALS “Ice Bucket” Challenge

We got our students, parents, and staff together in our effort as another non-for-profit to chip in to the staggeringly effective ALS awareness campaign and raised some funds in the process.

We have nominated our friends at New Theatre, Miami Children’s Theater, and Dance Creations to get in on the chilly bandwagon and spread the awareness.

Read up on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis if you don’t already know about it. It’s quite an eye opener! WHAT IS ALS?

The Children’s Trust:

Kidz On Stage After-School

Although funded over the past seven years by The Children’s Trust, these grant dollars have been severely affected by federal and state budget cut. We have managed to continue offering this program free of charge, on a first come, first served basis. There are a limited number of spots available.

This program offers the following:
• One daily performing arts class, offered Monday-Friday (Classes are on a rotating schedule including dance, acting, and voice.)
• One hour of supervised homework (Please note that we do NOT tutor, but we can help children with their homework, if needed.)
• Program is available for students in K – 8th grade

21st Century Community Learning Centers

21st Century Community Learning Center:

The Roxy Theatre After-School

Funded over the past four years by the Florida Department of Education, this program is offered ONLY to South Miami Middle School and Glades Middle School students, free of charge, on a first come, first served basis and eligibility is based on attending these two schools. There are a limited number of scholarships available.

This program offers the following:
• One daily performing arts class, offered Monday-Friday (Classes are on a rotating schedule including dance, acting, and voice.)
• One hour of supervised homework (Please note that we do NOT tutor, but we can help children with their homework, if needed.)
• One hour of additional literacy offered twice a week.
• One hour of additional science and mathematics offered three times a week.
• Transportation is included ONLY for South Miami Middle School and Glades Middle School students.
