IN THE MUSICAL FAIRYTALE, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS

MIAMI, FL (July 16, 2010) The Roxy Theatre Group (RTG) and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GMYS), two non-profit youth arts programs, have united once again to cast a magical spell of musical theater over Miami with the fairytale production, Once Upon A Mattress.  Representing over 18 different schools in Miami-Dade County, the cast of 35 students, ages 12-22, is delighted to present this enchantingly comedic tale. The two arts programs teamed up to bring forth the musical extravaganzas, West Side Story (2009) and Guys and Dolls (2010) to spectacular success. Read More

THE ROXY THEATRE GROUP’S AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM PRESENTED HONK!, JR.

MIAMI, FL (June 1, 2010) The Roxy Theatre Group’s after school care program, presented the musical Honk!, Jr. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 to magnificent success.  Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless fairytale, The Ugly Duckling, this musical adaptation featured classic themes such as, self-discovery and inner strength.  The Roxy Theatre Group, (RTG) is a non-profit arts organization for children.

Over 50 children ages 5 to 14, representing 40 elementary and middle schools portrayed one of literatures most beloved and well known tales.  In rehearsal since February, the children personified the animal characters with much spirit and conviction.  The children played an array of wild life, including ducks, geese, bull frogs and swans. Successful Rehearsal for Recital

Our first recital rehearsal on Sunday, May 23 was a great success! Thank you to all of our students for their wonderful dedication to their arts crafts and to all of the parents for their great help.  Our Recital “All the World’s a Stage”, Friday, June 11th & Saturday June 12th at Felix Varela Senior High School. Both performances take place at 8pm.
