THE ROXY THEATRE GROUP’S AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM PRESENTED HONK!, JR.
MIAMI, FL (June 1, 2010) The Roxy Theatre Group’s after school care program, presented the musical Honk!, Jr. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 to magnificent success. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless fairytale, The Ugly Duckling, this musical adaptation featured classic themes such as, self-discovery and inner strength. The Roxy Theatre Group, (RTG) is a non-profit arts organization for children.
Over 50 children ages 5 to 14, representing 40 elementary and middle schools portrayed one of literatures most beloved and well known tales. In rehearsal since February, the children personified the animal characters with much spirit and conviction. The children played an array of wild life, including ducks, geese, bull frogs and swans. Successful Rehearsal for Recital
Our first recital rehearsal on Sunday, May 23 was a great success! Thank you to all of our students for their wonderful dedication to their arts crafts and to all of the parents for their great help. Our Recital “All the World’s a Stage”, Friday, June 11th & Saturday June 12th at Felix Varela Senior High School. Both performances take place at 8pm.

Don’t miss our end-of summer musical revue! Featuring our summer campers in an array of performance numbers from well-known musical productions. Tickets will be on sale one week prior to the show. All proceeds benefit The Roxy Theatre Group Scholarship Fund.

Kidz On Stage perform in Honk! Jr.
Kidz On Stage perform in Honk! Jr. Join the after school care students, ages 6 to 14, as they perform in this musical adaption of Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved tale, The Ugly Duckling. Music by George Stiles and lyrics and book by Anthony Drewe. The story features themes such as self-discovery, inner beauty and strength and is filled lively songs!
Time: 8:00 p.m.
Admission: $10.00
Roxy Recital: “All The World’s A Stage”
This year’s recital is named after a line that begins a famous monologue from William Shakespeare’s play, As You Like It. This was chosen in a time when an awareness for the planet’s health and our own well-being grows in all the communities around the world. Hopefully you can take this global tour with us and find out what makes our planet so unique and why it’s worth more than any gem or mineral we can pull from the ground. Read More

Kidz On Stage After School Care provides an opportunity for parents to have their children in a program that provides youth enrichment through arts activities while assisting students with homework. Read More
Head Start To The Arts
Head Start To The Arts is a scholarship-based program funded by The Children’s Trust, which runs from September through August, Monday through Friday 3:30pm to 8:30pm and Saturdays 9:30am to 11:30am. The services provided include:
- A complimentary costume for the year-end recital
- Two classes of choice per week
- Participation in all of the productions conducted throughout the year
